In 2007, Alan started shooting food photography and quickly fell in love with this new genre. "I was drawn into food photography in particular because of how challenging it is," says Alan. Like every great photograph, food photography requires excellent composition, unique lighting skills, passion, style, improvisation and a great subject.”
For over six years, Alan has been shooting incredible food and drink images for culinary businesses nation-wide, including Bush's Beans, Coca Cola, King’s Hawaiian Bread, Subway, Qzina Specialty Foods, Costco food products, in addition to several restaurants in the Los Angeles, CA area. Alan is known for his aggressive approach to getting the most unique and exotic shots, which usually requires complicated lighting set-ups and specialized equipment. Several of his shots have been published in various magazine and newspapers in the United States and internationally.
In the summer of 2010, Alan shot his first cookbook, Moorish Fusion Cuisine- Conquering the New Word, by Moroccan executive chef Zouhair Zairi. In 2012, he shot four new cookbook projects including Salsas, by award-winning Mexican Chefs Ramiro Arvizu and Jaime Martin Del Campo. Soon after, he shot Vegeterranian Vegan by Palestinian chef Laura Shaheen. At the end of 2012, Alan had the honor of shooting two cookbooks, The Ruby and The Gold, with world-renowned Italian chef Gianfranco Chiarini. He currently has three new books in the works including a pastry book he will co-author and shoot with world-renowned MOF French Pastry chef Stephane Treand.
