![]() ![]() Bio In 2007, Alan started shooting food photography and quickly fell in love with this new genre. "I was drawn into food photography in particular because of how challenging it is," says Alan. Like every great photograph, food photography requires excellent composition, unique lighting skills, passion, improvisation and an a great subject. I love food and I love photography so it was a perfect match for me!" For over four years, Alan has been shooting incredible food and drink images for small and large restaurants and food industry businesses nation-wide including Bush's Beans, Jalapeno's Restaurant chain, Qzina Specialty Foods, Costco food products, Montchevre Cheese, Trinitas Winery and Onx Winery along with several more. Alan is known for his aggressive approach to getting the most unique and exotic shots which usually requires complicated lighting set-ups and specialized equipment. "It's good enough..." just doesn't cut it for me. I like to push the boundaries of photography and lighting with food and drinks. The possibilities are limitless!" In the summer of 2010, Alan shot his first cookbook Moorish Fusion Cuisine- Conquering the New Word. Working with Moroccan executive chef Zouhair Zairi, Alan developed new lighting and composition techniques that took his skills to a new level. He recently shot his second cookbook on salsas this Fall with award-winning Chefs Ramiro Arvizu and Jaime Martin Del Campo of La Casita Mexicana restaurant in Los Angeles. There are two addition travel/cookbooks in the works for the summer of 2012- Haiti- Hardship and Hope (Haitian and Carribean Cuisine) and a second book on Mexican food to be shot in Guadalajara, Mexico with Chefs Ramiro Arvizu and Jaime Martin Del Campo. An accomplished travel and commercial photographer , Alan De Herrera has spent his entire life chasing his dream of shooting the things he's most passionate about. He has always been fascinated with the technical and creative expertise required to shoot powerful images.
